However, the big news from the US is that the EPA has released its draft Energy Star specification for luminaires, which includes LEDs as part of a technology-neutral approach.

EPA has unveiled its long-awaited Luminaires specification, which will eventually replace the existing Residential Light Fixtures (V4.2) and Solid State Lighting Luminaires (V1.1) specifications.

 Future Lighting Solutions adds royalty-free eligibility mark to LED light engines
As part of its expanded relationship with Royal Philips Electronics, Future Lighting Solutions will offer simpleLED light engines with a special logo to indicate they are part of Philips’ LED-based licensing program. This could help customers to help qualify their licensed luminaires for a 0% royalty payment.
The Home Depot to sell Ecosmart LED lamps made by Lighting Science Group
The Ecosmart A19 LED lamp, made by Lighting Science Group, is the first in a full line of products that will be available exclusively in The Home Depot stores this year. With a retail price of $19.97, the A19 lamp is pitched as a replacement for traditional 40-watt incandescent bulbs.
